barren...

"My grief lies all within, and these external manner of lament are merely shadows to the unseen grief that swells with silence in the tortured soul..."

hotel being torn down...

Here's a hotel/motel in Flint that is being torn down.  It was at this Hotel on August 23, 1967 that The Who stayed after opening for Herman's Hermits at a concert in Flint at Atwood Stadium. After the concert, The Who celebrated Keith Moon's birthday at what was at that time the Holiday Inn on Bristol Road and I-75. Their room was trashed and the night ended when Keith drove a Lincoln Continental convertible into the swimming pool. My Uncle Tim, my little cousin Katie and I took a little field trip to the site. Thanks Tim for taking us...and thanks to Katie for being our little model!

Kellan and Birdy go to Grandma's...

I surprised my sister and her family in Atlanta last weekend.  They were traveling to my mom's and I caught her connecting flight there!!  Took this picture of Kellan walking through the airport...

For some reason he was facinated by the faucet outside my mom's house...

Birdy...always happy...always smiling...

Grandma reading to Birdy...

what I said...

So...what I SAID was that I was going to post a picture on my blog every day...but...well...what I MEANT was, I'm going to post it everyday on facebook and just update this blog every now and then.  Yeah...that's what I meant.  So here it goes...

red moon...

I wish I had the ability and equipment to have taken a picture of the moon as it came up tonight.  It was huge...red...and full of anger...missing a chunk out of it's side like a wounded soul...

it's just me...

I know it's been a while since I posted here.  I won't go into the gory details of my life...I will just say that I'm ready to start posting here again.  I have taken a break from taking pictures for other people. It got to be too  much... I had to take a step back.  I am at a place, were I'm taking pictures for myself.   Of course there's Kellan and Paityn (my little Birdy) but other than family, and a 365 project underway...it's just me...

My 365 project is a little more than taking just any picture...I wanted to challenge myself a little more.  Pencils.  I have to have one in every shot.  So for 365 days, I will take some kind of picture of a pencil and post it here.  It pushes my creativity and discipline (which I need help in).  I'm on day 64 and they are all posted on facebook so far.  I won't post too many past pictures so if you are interested, send me a friends request.  Here's a few of my favorites...in no particular order...

I'll try to keep this blog updated...but as most of us know...life gets away from us.  I feel like I still need this outlet to express myself...to get what's inside and threatening to spill over out and keep it from bursting into a chaotic mess all around me...

SO on that happy note...until next time...

Oh and by the way, Michael...just saw your post on the Guestbook!!  Show's how long it's been since I was on here.  My mom and I would love to hear from you...contact me!

Karen - 32 weeks...

My sister and I took off driving last Sunday morning and came across this little gem!  We stopped because the front door was cool and I thought it would make a neat picture.  Well...when we went inside we fell in love!  This little place was so cute and the breakfast taco's we ordered were the BEST I've ever had.  This will become one of our "spots" when I'm in town!  For those in San Antonio you might want to check it out.  Their specialty is snow cones but they have all kinds of other stuff...deep fried stuff...deep fried goodness!  Their address is 12735 Nacogdoches Rd...

The San Antonio Express News even did a piece on this place...

Jennifer & Joe...

So when Jennifer (friend from the day job) asked me to shoot her wedding she made it very clear that the photos would not be her main focus.  She wanted to have a good time and not have to worry about a million pictures.  She also wanted her guests to have a good time and not have to wait around for those million pictures to be taken.  From the moment we arrived at the church until the time we left the reception, these folks had a good time! Some of the weddings I've shot (not mentioning any names here) has had DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA...but this was the exact opposite.  There were moms and dads...step moms and step dads...family everywhere but EVERYONE got along.  EVERYONE was happy.  It was crazy!! I can truly say I had a great time and it was such a pleasure to meet Jennifer and Joe's families...ya'll are so great!

New Orleans...

You know the saying, "don't quit your day job"?  Well I have one, and I'm not going to quit it anytime soon.  My day job landed me near New Orleans for a couple days... here's some of my favorite pictures...

I've thought about this little old lady a few times since I was there.  I've wondered where she lives, what she does besides sit on Bourbon St. asking for money...is she even still alive.  She seemed so happy just sitting there with her fellow clown.  I think back and wish I would have asked her what her name was...

Harrah grandkids...

This was by far the LOUDEST session I've had to date!!! Andi and Angel...God bless you both!!!  This was the sweetest group of kids in one place...there should be some sort of Guinness World Records going on here...

Misti...

Morning of Misti's wedding her and her bridesmaids got together at a salon for hair and makeup.  I stopped by for a few pictures...Wedding pictures to follow...

So proud...

I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of my sister.  She is such a good little mommy.  Kellan is one loved little boy...

Ok show's over...Kellan is no longer in the mood...

Preston & Jennifer...

...two of our best friends in the world.  They are getting married in March (um...if they can wait that long)...which I will have the pleasure of shooting.  I had a blast during this session.  Preston as usual you had me roll'n the entire time. Jennifer thanks for being so easy to take pictures of.  You're a natural!  Hurry up and get your butt to Texas where it belongs!

Did I mention we'll be traveling to Alabama for the wedding?

And this post wouldn't be complete without some of Preston's outtakes...Jennifer you have your work cut out for you!

Corey & Misti...

These two will be tying the knot in August...I get the pleasure of shooting their wedding.  Misti, you were so much fun...and Corey, we got a couple smiles out of you!  You two are great...can't wait to see you in August!  Hi Sharon!

The Davis Family...

I think the day we took these pictures was one of the hottest...most humid days so far this summer.  Ya'll were such good sports...can't even tell you're melting!

The Boykins...

...affectionately know as the B-klan.  These folks kept me laughing the entire session.  They need their own reality TV show.  You guys are a beautiful family...so glad I got to get a glimpse into your lives...

The Stophers...

You've got to be quick if you are going to catch this family...all in one place.  It's almost impossible.  And when it does happen it doesn't last long....I'm just say'n...  ("I know right!")
